England's Energy Shortage 2014

It is often purported by HM Government that the UK does not have an energy shortage. While that may be true of the UK, it may not be true for the UK. Looking at the figures below it would seem that England regularly imports electricity from Scotland.

In response to a Parliamentary question the Minister of State of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills issued the following figures.

The following table provides a breakdown of the electricity that passed through the interconnector from England to Scotland and Scotland to England in each month since January 2010.
